Carol J. Nelson, 65, Plover, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the Stevens Point Care Center.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society of Schofield and Higgins Funeral Home of Wisconsin Rapids assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Nelson was born June 18, 1946, in Cascade, a daughter of the late David and Mildred (Meyer) Muench. She was raised and educated in Marshfield. During her youth she and her younger sisters formed a vocal group that performed at many events and won many awards.
During her senior year of high school she was selected to join a college choral group from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on a tour of Europe.
She was married to John A. Nelson on Aug. 11, 1984.
They relocated to Tucson, Ariz., for 12 years and then moved back to Plover to be closer to family. For many years, she was a foster parent in Tucson and in Portage County.
Survivors include her husband; five children, Stephanie (Michael) Pflager and Jacob (Patsy) Nelson, both of Plover, Becki (Patrick) McCauley, Browntown, Caylor Nelson, Stevens Point, and Kianna Nelson, Irma; three sisters, Pat (Len) Theide, Ames, Iowa, Sue (Bill) Fruehbrodt, Marshfield, and Jan (Larry) Westbrook, Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
She was also preceded in death by one son, David Mitchell.
