Joseph P. McNamara, 49, 1725 Plover St., Stevens Point, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at the Portage County Health Care Center.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel Kozlowski officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. Monday until the services.
A memorial in his name will be established at a later date, in lieu of flowers.
He was a recipient of a kidney and pancreas transplant more than 10 years ago, and his family encourages organ donations.
Mr. McNamara was born Dec. 13, 1953, in Fond du Lac, a son of Patricia (Walsh) McNamara and the late Patrick M. McNamara. He attended St. Stephen Grade School and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1972. He attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
He was married to Barbara Rachubinski on March 19, 1977, in La Crosse. They later divorced.
He worked for Quillins Foods for more than 15 years as an assistant manager, then worked for Fleming Foods for more than 10 years as head truck dispatcher.
He was active in youth baseball in Shelby for many years and was a member of the La Crosse Jaycees for many years and the Boy Scouts, receiving the Order of the Arrow.
Survivors include one son, Patrick, La Crosse; two daughters, Colleen McNamara, Madison, and Caitlin McNamara, La Crosse; his mother, Patricia McNamara, Plover; three brothers, Michael, Apple Valley, Minn., Daniel (Debby), Franklin, and Kevin (Erin), Madison; and three sisters, Susan (Kent) Zelhofer, Stevens Point, Mary McNamara, Sullivan, and Elizabeth (Steven) Pecha, Franklin.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Ryan Joseph; one brother, Stephen; and one sister, Kathleen.
