Richard “Dick” J. Disher, 56, Brookfield, a Stevens Point native and former Stevens Point teacher, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Catholic Church in Brookfield.
A memorial gathering will be held from 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the church until the Mass.
Memorials to cancer research are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
Becker-Ritter Funeral Home in Brookfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Disher was born April 17, 1945, in Stevens Point, a son of Frances Disher and the late John P. Disher. He graduated from Pacelli High School.
He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a master’s degree in Boston, Mass.
He was married to Dahlann Reinke on Nov. 22, 2000.
He was a school psychologist in Stevens Point Area Public Schools until 1983, also serving as director of special education for the 1977-78 school year. After moving to Brookfield, he became the director of special education for CESA 5 in Bristol.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Michelle Disher; his mother, Stevens Point; one sister, Joyce (Jim) Schmidt, Windham, N.H.; and one brother, James (Barbara), Stevens Point.
