Loretta A. Cowles, 94, 5248 Forest Circle South, Stevens Point, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at the Portage County Health Care Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point, with Deacon Don Borski officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Loyal.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Boston Funeral Home.
A memorial is established in her name for St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
Mrs. Cowles was born June 15, 1907, in Stratford, a daughter of the late John and Clara (Nowak) Bannach. She moved to Loyal with her family, grew up there and graduated from Loyal High School.
She was married to Lawrence V. Cowles on Oct. 11, 1925, in Loyal. He died June 5, 1982.
She helped her husband with the Loyal newspaper for 25 years until 1955. From 1955 until 1972 they owned the Loyal School and Office Supply Company. They retired in 1972 and moved to Stevens Point.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Mary (Fred Hood) Cowles, Lexington, Ky., and Dolores (LeRoy) Behling, Stevens Point; one sister, Lillian Shefchik, Rhinelander; and three grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
