“Gary” Garald R. Emerich, 58, 3901 Heffron Loop, Stevens Point, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Graham West officiating. He has been cremated and his ashes are in the care of his family.
Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until the services.
Boston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Emerich was born June 2, 1943, in Hixton, a son of the late Raymond C. and Anna (Fischer) Emerich.
He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a graduate degree at UW-Superior in mathematics education.
He was employed at Tigerton as a mathematics teacher and later at Marathon Public Schools as a mathematics instructor and computer coordinator, retiring in 1998. He also worked part-time as a computer instructor at UW-Stevens Point.
After retirement he worked as a part-time computer technician for the Mosinee School District.
He was married to Shelby J. Tinberg on June 28, 1986, in Farmington.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Polly (Donald) Heil, Chippewa Falls, and Dawn (Todd) Froehlich, Wausau; one son, Adam (Missy), Rochester, Minn.; one sister, Arleen (John) Vander Sanden, Kaukauna; and five grandchildren.
