Carol J. Wanta, 61, Galloway, a town of Sharon native, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at her home under the care of her family and Comfort Care and Hospice Services of Wausau.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway, with the Revs. Rex Zimmerman and Herbert Zoromski officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the services. There will be a parish prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home in Wittenberg is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Wanta was born Feb. 22, 1940, in the town of Sharon, a daughter of the late Ben and Evelyn (Simonis) Richter.
She was married to Gerald Wanta on Nov. 23, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Rosary Society at St. Joseph Parish in Galloway.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Debbie (Bill) Wolosek, Plover, Denise (Marlon) Springer, Aniwa, Lisa Ann Wanta, at home, and Karen (Tim) Kostuch, Galloway; three sons, Gerald “Jerry” Jr. (Julie), Galloway, Donald Brenda, Hatley, and Roger (Peg), Rosholt; one brother, Richard (Susan) Richter, Galloway; two sisters, Lorraine (Richard) Yenter, Rosholt, and Andrea (Richard) Singer, Stevens Point; and 21 grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Randall.
