Lillian H. Sopa, 87, a longtime town of Buena Vista resident, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Bethany Riverside Health Care Center in La Crosse.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher, with the Rev. Robert Pedretti officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shuda Funeral Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the services. The rosary will be prayed at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Sopa was born Jan. 17,1914, in the town of Stockton, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Augustina (Stoltz) Konkol. She attended Fancher School.
She was married to Louis Sopa on Sept. 12,1932, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. He died Feb. 8, 1981.
They farmed in the town of Buena Vista until retiring in 1974.
She was a member of the choir at St. Martin Catholic Church in the town of Buena Vista and a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher her entire life.
Survivors include five daughters, Adeline Sopa, Green Bay, Theresa (Peter) McCamley, Fountain City, Joan (Richard) Marchiando, La Crosse, Caroline (Ralph Bache) Kostroski, White Bear Lake, Minn., and Cathy (Kim) Rhutasel, Almond; one sister, Joan Patoka, Fond du Lac; two brothers, Leonard (Regina) Konkol, Stevens Point, and Alfred (Marie) Konkol, Menomonee Falls; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Germaine Sopa; two brothers; and three sisters.
