Barbara J. Zimmerman, 53, Milwaukee, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at her home after battling cancer for the past eight months.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Robert Schaller officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. Thursday at the church until the services. There will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name will be established at a later date.
Mrs. Zimmerman was born Feb. 19, 1948, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Ernest and Esther (Krasavage) Adamski. She attended local parochial grade schools and graduated from Maria High School in 1966.
She graduated from St. Joseph Nursing Academy in Marshfield in 1977.
She was married to Dean Zimmerman on Dec. 17, 1966, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. They later divorced.
She worked at the Portage County Home for a number of years and also in juvenile psychiatric nursing for many years in the Milwaukee and Madison areas. She was recently a phone triage nurse at St. Mary’s Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Zimmerman, Stevens Point; one son, Chris Zimmerman, Stoughton; one brother, Fred Adamski, Oshkosh; and her ex-husband, Dean Zimmerman, Elkhart Lake.
She was also preceded in death by one sister.
