Ernest J. Dombrowski, 71, Nelsonville, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia, with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst and from 10 a.m. Thursday at the church until the services. The Holy Name Society will join with the general rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Dombrowski was born April 12, 1930, in Amherst Junction, a son of the late John and Alvina (Shulfer) Dombrowski.
He was married to Dorothy Gavin on Oct. 25, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia.
He farmed his entire life.
He was a truck driver for the F.F. Mengel Co. from 1952 to 1980.
He was a member of the Tomorrow River Conservation Club, the Teamsters and the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church. He was also a stock car driver for more than 10 years.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Kathleen (Marvin) Somers, Stevens Point, Cheryl (Dwight) Hucke and Denise (Richard) Fischer, both of Nelsonville, and Joan (John) Woyak, Custer; four sons, James (Joy), Nelsonville, and John, Wayne (Kay) and Paul (Margaret), all of Amherst Junction; one brother, Charles (Beatrice), Port Edwards; six sisters, Gen (Frank) Jelinski, Custer, Dorothy (Hank) Brzezinski, Wausau, Sally Sopa, Milwaukee, Lucille (Clarence) Dallman, Oshkosh, and Fran (Don) Adamczak and Irene (Leo) Shopinski, both of Stevens Point; 22 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Thomas; and one brother, Dennis.
