Yvonne H. Heminger, 65, town of Sigel (Wood County), a longtime employee at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, following a long battle with cancer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in the town of Sigel, with the Rev. Blaine Niskanen officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the services.
Mrs. Heminger was born Sept. 6, 1935, in Highland, Wis. (Iowa County), a daughter of the late Wilson and Gladys (Phillips) Gabler.
She was married to Dale W. Heminger on Sept. 7, 1957, at Bethany Lutheran Church in the town of Sigel.
She worked for more than 25 years at Sentry Insurance, retiring in December 1998 as the lead file clerk.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for more than 50 years and was active in the church, serving as Sunday School superintendent, in the church choir and on many committees. She was also a member of the “Young at Heart” Bible study group.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Cindy (Steve) Greunke, Marshfield, and Debra (Mark) Carter, Gillette, Wyo.; one son, Randal, Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Palma Gabler, Marshfield, and Gwen (Ervin) Tomczyk, Rudolph; one brother, Virgil (LuEtta) Gabler, Wisconsin Rapids; and six grandchildren.
