Tillie E. Wondzell, 98, formerly of 1248 Portage St. (now the Catholic Worker House), Stevens Point, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at the Riverside Suites at River Pines Center.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Schaller officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. A general rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Wondzell was born Sept. 22, 1902, in the town of Hull, a daughter of the late George and Anna (Zmuda) Bukowski. She attended local schools in the town of Hull.
She was married to John Wondzell on Feb. 10, 1925, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in the town of Hull. He died Feb. 6, 1953.
After their marriage, they lived in Chicago, Ill., and Stroudsburg, Pa., before finally settling in Stevens Point.
She worked at the Hotel Whiting, was a cook in various restaurants and worked at Fisher’s Dairy for 17 years.
She was a Gray Lady at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Mike (Betty), Stevens Point, and John (Helen), Albuquerque, N.M.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Clair; two daughters, Ethel Molski and Elaine Mrarich; five brothers and eight sisters.
