Jerome M. Kudla, 68, Shawano, a Rosholt native, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at St. Paul’s in Kaukauna.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home in Kaukauna and from 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the services.
Mr. Kudla was born April 20, 1933, in Rosholt, a son of the late Anton and Sophy Kudla.
He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point in 1951.
He was employed by Journal Printing Co. after graduation and then served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 with the 28th and 9th Infantry Division in Ulm, Germany.
He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1961 and a master’s degree in 1970.
He taught English at Mayville High School from 1961 to 1966 and coached high school golf, cross country and junior high football teams while also serving as adviser to the school newspaper.
He taught English at Kaukauna High School from 1966 until his retirement in 1993, also announcing the school’s football games.
He retired to Lulu Lake outside Shawano, where he founded and served as first president of the Lulu Lake Association.
Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Kudla, Atlanta, Ga.; her mother, Mary Schaffer, Kaukauna; and one sister, Joan (Donald) Brennan, Columbus, Ohio.
