Gerald “Gary” R. Wimme, 65, 1989 Green Tree Road, Junction City, a co-founder of Wimme Readi-Mix Inc. in Plover, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at St. Michael’s Hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Knutson officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. Saturday at the church until the services. The Stevens Point Elks Lodge will have a ritual at 7 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Wimme was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Stevens Point, a son of Marie (Engelbert) Wimme and the late Gilford Wimme.
He was married to Marlowe “Martie” Thiel on April 18, 1959, in Ripon.
As a young man he was employed at Wimme Sand & Gravel and also worked road construction.
In 1960 he co-founded Wimme Readi-Mix Inc. and operated the business until retiring in 1994.
He was a past member of the Bank of Plover Board of Directors and a past member of the Stevens Point Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
He was one of the original board members who formed the village of Plover.
He was a past officer and current member of the Stevens Point Elks Lodge 641 and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael (Michele) Klasinski-Wimme, Plover, and Daniel Wimme, Stevens Point; one daughter, Margaret “Peggy” (Neal) Lutz, Stevens Point; his mother, Stevens Point; one brother, Patrick (Evelyn), Stevens Point; two sisters, Elaine (William) Nysted, Green Bay, and Nancy Golla, Stevens Point; and nine grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and John.
