Blanche Fobart Maney, 86, an elementary school teacher and longtime resident of Stevens Point and Wausau, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Comfort Care and Hospice Services Wausau Hospital.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Wausau, with the Rev. Steve Gross officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Mosinee.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brainard Funeral Home in Wausau and from noon Wednesday at the church until the services. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Comfort Care and Hospice Services in care of Wausau Hospital, 333 Pine Ridge Blvd., Wausau, WI 54401.
Mrs. Maney was born Aug. 11, 1914, in Wausau, a daughter of the late Wallace J. and Bertha E. (Akey) Fobart. She grew up in Mosinee.
She graduated from Wisconsin State University-Stevens Point and taught in Lodi, Wausau, Appleton, Stevens Point and Plover. She was named District Teacher of the Year in 1977 by the state Department of Public Instruction.
She was married 60 years ago to Thomas Maney, a retired employee of Sentry Insurance.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Patrick (Elaine), Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Mary Pearl Fobart Obear, Lathrup Village, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Tommy, and two brothers, Ellsworth “Wally” Fobart and Leo Fobart.
