Stephen H. Kawleski, 76, town of Grand Rapids (Wood County), a Stevens Point native, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Andrew Karoblis officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in the town of Grand Rapids.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Ritchay Funeral Home and again from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday. There will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Kawleski was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Maxmilian and Anna (Bella) Kawleski.
He served in the U.S. Army in Italy as a firefighter from 1945-47.
He was married to Clara E. Walloch on June 12, 1948, in Stevens Point. She died June 15, 1992.
He worked as a shipping clerk at Nekoosa Papers Inc. in the Port Edwards Division for many years.
Survivors include one son, Ronald (Jean), Nekoosa; two daughters, Charlotte (James) Anderson and Judith (Robin) McMahan, both of Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters, Martha Orlowski, Kenosha, and Agnes Golla, Ogdensburg; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Theodore, Henry, George, Chester and Alexander.
