Loraine E. Gilbert, 94, formerly of 331 First St., Rosholt, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Dayton, Ohio.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt, with the Rev. Donald Walczak officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and again from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. A general rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday.
A memorial in lieu of flowers has been established in her name for St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt.
Mrs. Gilbert was born Aug. 1, 1906, in Kaukauna, a daughter of the late Frederick P. and Petronella (Verhalen) Eimermann. She attended schools in Green Bay and graduated from Oshkosh State Normal School.
She taught English and Latin at Wittenberg, Lena and Green Bay West high schools. She later taught at Rosholt High School.
She was married to Charles Allan Gilbert on June 28, 1937. He died in 1973.
They settled in Rosholt where they owned and operated Gilbert’s DX Service for 35 years.
She was a former member of the Christian Mothers Guild of St. Adalbert and was involved in the Portage County Deanery of Catholic Women, once service as president.
She moved to Dayton in October 1994 and resided in the Independent Living Unit of 10 Wilmington Place.
Survivors include two sons, Charles “Chuck” F. (Annette), Fairborn, Ohio, and Ralph C. (Carol), Las Animas, Colo.; one sister, Marietta Collins, Wauwatosa; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
