Frederick H. Sherman, 60, Port Charlotte, Fla., a former Portage County resident, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, after a battle with many illnesses.
A memorial service will be held in Wisconsin at a later date.
Kays-Ponger Royal Palm Funeral Home in Port Charlotte, Fla., assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Sherman was born Oct. 13, 1940, in Sheboygan Falls, a son of the late Henry and Thelma (Giffey) Sherman.
He was married to Kathleen (Murphy) Schubring on July 9, 1986.
He was employed at General Motors, retiring in 1995. He belonged to the United Auto Workers Local 95 in Janesville and then UAW Local 2209 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Port Charlotte, Fla.; three daughters, Myrna J. (Gary) Muhasky, Jefferson, Melody L. (Steve) Saylor, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Megan Elizabeth (Terrence J.) Mullen, Itasca, Ill.; two sons, Monty, Jefferson, and Michael (Jessica), Jacksonville, Fla.; six brothers, Edward “Ted” (Joan) Sherman, Belvidere, Ill., Lyle (Linda) Sherman, Poplar Grove, Ill., Jack (Bernadette) Sherman, Plainfield, Ronald Harvey (Terry) Sherman, Bancroft, Dale Sherman, Almond, and Peter (Frederick) Prentice, Tomahawk; three sisters, Nola Sullivan, Wild Rose, Myra (Cal Zwetz) Wallner, Hancock, and Nancy Ostrander, Plainfield; and five grandchildren.
