Nelson E. Hughes, 91, 3048 Water St., died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Boston Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Przybylski officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the services.
Mr. Hughes was born Jan. 4, 1910, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late A.M. and Minnie Hughes. He moved to Stevens Point with his family at age 10.
He attended college in Seattle, Wash., for a hear and then the University of Wisconsin-Madison for two years.
He was married to Janet M. Field on May 20, 1940. She died Nov. 23, 1996.
He was the Stevens Point building inspector for a number of years and then worked for the Stevens Point Water and Sewage Department in a number of capacities until his retirement.
He was a steam power buff and enjoyed model steam engines.
Survivors include two sons, David (Ann), Lady Lake, Fla., and Andrew, Juneau, Alaska; one brother, Robert Hughes, Kentucky; one sister, Sylvia Gordon, Tucson, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
