J. Edward Kane, 82, 801 Frontenac Ave., died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of the Intercession, with the Rev. Wilson Roane officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in the town of Grand Rapids (Wood County).
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Boston Funeral Home. There will be an Elks Ritual at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Kane was born May 2, 1918, in Ithaca, N.Y., a son of the late Edward and Fanny (Hutchings) Kane. He grew up in Ithaca and graduated from college there with a degree in engineering.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II as a sergeant. He entered the military Feb. 23, 1943, and was honorably discharged Aug. 21, 1946.
He was married to Florence L. Holderegger on Dec. 12, 1947, in Cortland, N.Y. She died in April 1997.
He worked for Carrier Corp. as an engineer in Syracuse, N.Y. He retired in 1980.
He and his wife moved to Stevens Point in 1987.
Survivors include cousins, Linda (Bill) Sebesta, Johnson City, N.Y., and Marlene (Bill) Fredrich, Minocqua.
He was also preceded in death by one son.
