Richard “Rick” Kirsling, 77, Albuquerque, N.M., died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001.
Services were held March 1 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Albuquerque, N.M. Interment followed at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to UNM Cancer Research Center, 900 Camino de Salud NE., Albuquerque, NM. 87131 Attn: Development Office.
Direct Funeral Services in Albuquerque assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Kirsling was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Alois and Angelina (Kalka) Kirsling.
He was married to Mary Bassage 52 years ago.
He served in the US Air Force in World War II, Korea and Vietnam as a combat photographer, retiring in 1967.
He moved to Albuquerque in 1958 and worked for Channel 7 there as film editor from 1978 to 1989.
He was a member of the Albuquerque Men’s Bowling Association and a founding member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathleen Kirsling and Colleen (Lou) Burns, both of Albuquerque; two sons, Michael (Lynn), Bloomfield, Colo., and Rick J., Albuquerque; three brothers, Carl, David and Jerome; one sister, Mary Ann Kirsling; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
