Mary A. Barbers, 87, Portage County Health Care Center, formerly of 2000 Oak St., died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Alan Burkhardt officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Boston Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Family Center until the services. There will be a general rosary at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Barbers was born Oct. 7, 1913, in San Giovanni Fiore, Italy, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Theresa Iaquinto. She moved to the United States with her family in June of 1920. They settled in Minneapolis where she grew up and attended Edison High School. She worked at the Hollywood Candy Co. in Minneapolis.
She was married to Frank Barbers on Oct. 15, 1936, in Minneapolis. They moved to Stevens Point in 1940. He died Jan. 1, 1989.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Society and was a “grandma” for St. Joseph kindergarten classes for many years.
Survivors include one son, Frank (Rose) Jr., Stevens Point; three daughters, Judy (David) Johnson, Stevens Point, Joan Lindner, Menasha, and Mary (Tom) Webster, Schofield; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
