Johanna I. Ostrowski, 81, Amherst Junction, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at her residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at Fancher, with the Rev. Robert Pedretti officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Fancher.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst and from 10 a.m. Thursday at the church until the services. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ostrowski was born May 25, 1919, in the town of Sharon, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Kontney) Powalish.
She was married to Alfons J. Ostrowski on Sept. 23,1943, in Stevens Point.
She was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.
Survivors include three sons, James (Cecilia), Maynard (Virginia) and Daniel (Sandra), all of Amherst Junction; six brothers, Stanley (Mary) Powalish, Rosholt, Paul (Marlene) Powalish, Harry (Ann) Powalish, Peter Powalish, Andrew (Delores) Powalish and Joseph (Eleanor) Powalish; four sisters, Katherine Rucinski, Sarah Grzes, Veronica (Joe) Keller and Betty Klocek; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Albin Powalish.
