Frederick Bary Nienow, 53, 3869 Bluebird Drive, a former owner of radio station WYTE, died at home Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, after an elevator accident.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Divine Word Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Keith Free officiating. Burial will be in Glenview Memorial Garden in Ixonia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Boston Funeral Home.
A memorial is established in his name for Northland Lutheran High School for the tuition assistance program.
Mr. Nienow was born May 24, 1947, in Oconomowoc, a son of the late Frederick and Margaret (Remschner) Nienow. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills. He attended Milwaukee Technical College where he earned an associate degree in engineering.
He was married to Sharon Hepp on July 11, 1970.
He started a career in radio in 1970 and was a broadcast engineer.
He and his wife moved to Stevens Point in 1985 and started Sharon Broadcasting Corp., owning and operating radio station WYTE in Stevens Point until 2000.
He was a member of Divine Word Lutheran Church and served as the church’s treasurer.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jennifer (Bryan) Worzella and Gretchen Nienow, both of Stevens Point, and Sarah Nienow, Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Mark, Great Falls, Mont.; two sisters, Sue (Rick) Sukow, Johnson Creek, and Linda (Dutch) Holland, Oconomowoc; and two grandsons.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Richard, and one granddaughter.
