Clifton “Cliff” A. McCanna Sr., 69, Plover and Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Rimersburg, Pa., died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla., following a fall earlier in the day.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg, Pa., with the Rev. Jerry Smith, pastor of Barnhardt Baptist Church in Goodview, Va., officiating. Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery, with military honors by the Rimersburg VFW and the American Legion Ceremonial Squad.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Members of the Clarion Lodge No. 277 F&AM will meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Tuesday to conduct memorial services.
Mr. McCanna was born Dec. 19, 1931, in East Brady, Pa., a son of the late Fred Allen and Edna Viola (McElroy) McCanna. He graduated from East Brady High School in 1951.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was married to Katherine “Katie” Glenn on Feb. 22, 1951, at the Baker Street Church of God in Rimersburg, Pa.
He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 27 years as a freight conductor and retired from the United Transportation Union after 17 years where he was employed in the Wisconsin District.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Clifton Allen Jr., Larrie Eugene and Douglas James, all of Plover; five sisters, Margaret Wilson, Foxburg, Pa., Freda Coleman and Bessie Panei, both of Butler Pa., and Mildred (James) Bernard and Blanche Wiles, both of East Brady, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
