Sister Agnella Banczak, 87, a sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 71 years, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at St. Joseph Congregational Home, 1300 Maria Drive.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the convent chapel. Burial will follow in the convent cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the convent. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel.
The Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
The former Catherine Banczak was born Feb. 7, 1913, in Antigo, a daughter of the late John and Antoinette (Przybocki) Banczak.
She was received into the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis on Aug. 6, 1929.
She was a teacher or principal and organist in parochial parishes in Wisconsin for 31 years. In Stevens Point she served at St. Peter Parish from 1941 to 1948. From 1962 to 1980 she was a pioneer missionary of the Order in Lares, Puerto Rico. From 1981 to her retirement in 1992, Sister Banczak did pastoral ministry to Hispanics and prison ministry in the Diocese of La Crosse.
Survivors include one sister, Sister Sophie Banczak, SSJ-TOSF, Stevens Point.
