Erwin W. Kurth, 63, town of Grand Rapids (Wood County), brother of a Plover woman, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at St. Michael’s Hospital following a battle with cancer.
Private services for family and relatives will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Hills Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Pat Foley officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.
Mr. Kurth was born Oct. 14, 1937, in Neillsville, a son of the late Arthur and Ottilia (Cops) Kurth. He attended grade and high schools in Wisconsin Rapids.
He was married to Cecelia “Sallie” Bartotto on June 28, 1958, in Plainfield.
He worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. for 45 years, retiring in October 1999 as a T3 paper tester in the Biron lab.
He was a member of the American Cribbage Congress and the Papermakers Union where he served as a local union steward.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Kirby (Mary), Nekoosa; two sisters, Vera Hentges, Plover, and Delores (Robert) Nelson, Hancock; and one granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Herbert; and one sister, Beatrice Aruis.
