Donald “Stumpy” John Wanta Sr., 67, Adams, a town of Sharon native, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at his residence.
A memorial service was held Feb. 4 at the Cedar Shack in Adams.
Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Wanta was born Jan. 27, 1934, in the town of Sharon, a son of the late Leo and Minnie (Landowski) Wanta. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1952.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years with the U.S. Special Forces and was a Green Beret.
He was married to Bonnie Jean Paine on June 16, 1967, in Milwaukee.
He worked at Castle Rock Container Corp., retiring on May 1, 1999, as a die mounter.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel (Teresa), Gillett, and Donald John Jr., McFarland; two daughters, Lisa Jean, West Bend, and Audrey Kim, Fond du Lac; three brothers, Leo (Betty), Stevens Point, Ted (Joan), West Bend, and Ronnie (Babe), Maywood, Calif.; and one sister, Lucille Armatoski, Stevens Point.
