Bernard “Bernie” Reince, 80, Green Bay, father of an Almond man, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at a Green Bay area nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Church in Green Bay, with Monsignor Roy Klister officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Malcore Funeral Home in Green Bay. A parish wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until the services.
Mr. Reince was born April 21, 1920, in Maplewood, Wis., a son of the late Fabian and Josephine (Charles) Reince. He graduated from Algoma High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 and was a member of the 135AAA Gun Battalion, which operated in the European Theatre.
He was married to Mary Lefebvre on Oct. 26, 1946, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Church in Green Bay. She died Jan. 9, 1996.
He worked as a professional truck driver, mostly for Olson Transportation of Green Bay. He received special recognition for driving without an accident during his long career. Bernie retired from Central Wisconsin Transportation in 1979.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Parish, serving as an usher for over 40 years. He and his wife also did volunteer work for the Salvation Army and the Room at the Inn in Green Bay.
He also ushered for over 30 years for Green Bay Packer games, including games at the old City Stadium.
Survivors include one daughter, Cyndee Pearson, Oconto; two sons, Kevin, Green Bay, and Paul (Sue) Reince, Almond; three brothers, Fabian (Margaret), De Pere, Leonard (Ceil), Milwaukee, and Romuald (Joan), La Crosse; two sisters, Betty (Vincent) Delain, Casco, and Lillian Rose, Garden Grove, Calif.; one half-sister, Gail (Gerald) Wunsch, Wausau; one stepbrother, Kenneth (Phyllis) Spaude, Tomahawk; two stepsisters, Arlette (Arnold) Platta, Rhinelander, and Mary Anny, Mukwonago; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Blanche (Miller) Reince; three brothers, Marvin, Peter, and Willard; two sisters, Laura Schoenbrunn and Marilyn Landowski; and one stepbrother, George Spaude.
