Wayne L. Phelps, 48, Bancroft, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, after a battle with cancer at St. Michael’s Hospital while under the care of Hospice of Portage County.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in Almond, with Chaplain Mary Pat Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Lone Pine Cemetery in the town of Almond.
Visitation will be from noon Saturday until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
Mr. Phelps was born Aug. 30, 1952, in Waupaca, a son of Harlen and Dorothy (Olson) Phelps.
He was married to Kathy Pynakker on Jan. 19, 1990.
He was a long-time animal buyer and seller.
Survivors include his wife; two stepdaughters, Racheal Mugridge, Plover, and Carol (Tim Grosskreutz) Mugridge, Wisconsin Rapids, two stepsons, Hank (Deb) Mugridge, Wisconsin Rapids, and Lee (Kathy) Mugridge, Stevens Point; his father, Harlen (Grace), Almond; his mother, Dorothy (Miles) Stevens, Ogdensburg; one brother, Harlen (Dale) Jr., Ogdensburg; three sisters, Tina (Mark) Borchert, Almond, Dorene Weed, Ogdensburg, and Judy (Dan) Andrews, King; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Todd.
