Stanley Filtz, 69, 6796 Highway 66, Custer, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery in Ellis.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until the services.
Mr. Filtz was born May 20, 1931, in the town of Sharon, a son of the late Frank and Victoria (Soik) Filtz.
He entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 10, 1952, in Milwaukee. He served as a private first class with Company C, 44th Engineer Construction Battalion. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 9, 1954, at Camp Carson, Colo.
He farmed in the town of Sharon all of his life.
Survivors include one brother, Victor, Ellis; two nephews, Gerald (Marilyn) Filtz and Richard (Mary) Filtz, both of Stevens Point; and three nieces, Betty Filtz and Bernadine (Moen) Uddin, both of California, and Beverly Filtz, Phoenix, Ariz.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clarence.
