John “Jack” Wimme, 60, 2361 Elm St., one of the owners of Wimme Sand & Gravel, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital after a short illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Shuda Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Alan Burkhardt officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel and again from 9 a.m. Friday until the services.
Memorials may be designated to Hospice of Portage County.
Mr. Wimme was born Dec. 17, 1940, in Stevens Point, a son of Marie (Engelbert) Wimme, and the late Gilford H. Wimme. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1959.
He was married to Patricia S. Steward in 1959.
He was married to Nancy R. Summers in 1989.
He was involved in the family business, Wimme Sand & Gravel Inc., for more than 40 years.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Twelve Apostles Muskie Club.
Survivors include two sons, Jack, Nashua, N.H., and Kris J. (Lisa), Wisconsin Rapids; one daughter, Beth M. (David) Harvath, Custer; one stepdaughter, the Rev. Julie A. Summers, Ironwood, Mich.; his mother, Stevens Point; two brothers, Gerald (Martie), Junction City, and Patrick (Evelyn), Stevens Point; two sisters, Elaine (William) Nysted, Green Bay, and Nancy Golla, Whiting; and three grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard G.
