Helen Loretta Spaetzel, 64, Hampton, Va., a Stevens Point native, died Dec. 1, 2000.
A Mass of Resurrection was held Dec. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hampton, Va.
The Parklawn Wood Funeral Home of Hampton, Va., assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Spaetzel was born March 25, 1936, in Stevens Point, a daughter of Henrietta (Poszlusny) Kawleski and the late Theodore Kawleski Sr.
She was married to John Edwin Spaetzel on Jan. 12, 1957, in Dousman, Wis. He died April 19, 1997.
They were residents of Hampton, Va., for 34 years. She was currently working toward a master’s degree in fine arts at Hampton University.
She performed volunteer work at the Hampton Battered Women’s Shelter for 16 years. She was a founding member of the Puppet Art Center of Virginia.
She made Polish wycinanki, work that was displayed at the Lincoln Center and Ruth Gilfry Building in Stevens Point in 1997 and the fall of 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Suzy T. (Andrew) Soley, Hampton, Va.; three sons, Edwin J. (Deby), Williamsburg, Va., David A. (Marie), Gloucester, Va., and Michael (Virginia), Hampton, Va.; her mother, Cashton, Wis.; one sister, Geraldine McGalloway, Neenah; one brother, Theodore Kawleski Jr., Palmyra; seven grandchildren; and uncles, aunts and cousins in the Stevens Point area.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Spaetzel, and one sister.
