Florence (Skinner) Arnold, 87, Wisconsin Rapids, a Plover native, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at The Renaissance Assisted Living.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Episcopal Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
Memorials may be designated to Opportunity Development Centers Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids.
Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Arnold was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Plover, a son of the late Fayette and Ruby (Yorton) Skinner.
She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School and received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
She was married to Benjamin A. Wanta, who died.
She was also married to John F. Arnold, who died.
She was an automotive accountant in the Wisconsin Rapids areas for many years.
She won the Best of Show blue ribbon at the Wisconsin Historical Society quilting contest in 1983.
She won champion status as both a Class A golfer and bridge player at Bull’s Eye Country Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice (James) Retzlaff, Wisconsin Rapids; one sister, Isabelle Schwerbel, Stevens Point; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, James D. Wanta, Robert E. Wanta and John A. Arnold; two brothers, Col. George Skinner and Maj. Maynard Skinner; and one grandchild.
