Edward H. Rutkowski Jr., 74, a lifelong resident of Whiting, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Family Heritage Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Alan Burkhardt officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and from 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the services.
In lieu of flowers, it is asked that a special gesture be made in memory of his commitment to family. A memorial will be established at a later date.
Mr. Rutkowski was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Whiting, a son of the late Edward and Martha (Patoka) Rutkowski Sr.
He attended the old Whiting School and St. Stanislaus Grade School. As a youth he was a pinsetter at the South Side Bowling Alley in Stevens Point and worked at Bannach’s Silver Fox Ranch in Stevens Point. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1944.
He was married to Theresa Schulist on Feb. 19, 1949, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point. She died Nov. 3, 1985.
During a 43-year career in papermaking at Wisconsin River Division of Consolidated Papers Inc., he rose through the ranks to become a machine shift supervisor. He retired from Consolidated in 1987.
He was married to Adeline Kielpinski in 1989.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kathy (Bill) Blake, Whiting; one son, Gary (Cindy) Rutkowski, St. Albans, Vt.; two stepdaughters, Sandra (Mike) Scully and LeAnn (Chris) Miller; one stepson, Ron (Mary) Kielpinski and six grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard.
