Jennie (Swalheim) Peterson, 84, Wellington Place, mother of a Stevens Point man, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at West Koshkonong Church in Stoughton, with the Rev. Bill Lehman. Burial will be in West Koshkonong Cemetery in the town of Pleasant Springs in Dane County.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge and from 9 a.m. Monday at the church until the services.
Memorials may be made to the West Koshkonong Church or Cambridge Optimist Club.
Mrs. Peterson was born April 23, 1916, in Cottage Grove, a daughter of the late Carl and Sevrina (Haried) Swalhiem.
She was married to Archie Peterson on March 8, 1936. He died in 1986.
They farmed in Cottage Grove, later moving to a farm near Fort Atkinson.
She worked as a dental assistant for Drs. O.J. and John Gates Dental Office from 1955 until retiring in 1972.
After her husband died, she moved to Cambridge, then moved to Wellington Place in Stevens Point in September 1999.
She was a member of West Koshkonong Lutheran Church of Stoughton where she was a active as a lay minister and in Bible study and quilting. She was also involved with homemakers and a charter member of the Cambridge Optimist Club.
Survivors include three sons, Charles (Sue), Stevens Point, Paul, Marysville, Wash., and Alan, Fort Atkinson; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Harry Swalhiem; and three sisters, Helen Entwistle, Thelma Stowe and Adee Mauer.
