Bernard “Barney” Sopa, 87, Milwaukee, a Portage County native, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, in Milwaukee while under the care of Milwaukee Hospice.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home in Milwaukee. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
Mr. Sopa was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Amherst, a son of the late Joseph and Johanna (Konkel) Sopa.
He was married to Irene Milanowski on Sept. 2, 1939, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia.
He retired from the Ladish Co. after working there for more than 35 years.
He was an usher at St. Adalbert Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Carol Woda, Oak Creek, Joyce Jakubowski, Milwaukee, Renee (Jim) Flink, Milwaukee, and Rita (Bob) Kulinski, New Berlin; one son, Ron (Marion), Franklin; five sisters, Evelyn (Frank) Rusch, Plover, Jeanette (Leonard) Patoka, Amherst, Chesterine (Edward) Dombrowski, Tomahawk, and Emily (Ben) Rashka and Lucy (Arthur) Baldewicz, both of West Allis; three brothers, Zig (Lillian), Henry (Laura) and Leonard (Grace), all of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Edwin.
