Anna M. Scherer, 96, formerly of Ballston Spa, N.Y., died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at River Pines Center.
Services and burial will be in Ballston Spa, N.Y.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Boston Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established in her name for the National Kidney Foundation.
Mrs. Scherer was born March 9, 1904, in Wendell, Mass., a daughter of the late John and Jennie (Blair) Burkhardt.
After her schooling, she worked for various garment companies.
She was married to Lee A. Scherer on June 19, 1926, in Ballston Spa, N.Y. He died Oct. 31, 1972.
She worked as a jail matron for the Saratoga County (N.Y.) Sheriff’s Department where her husband also served as sheriff. She retired with 22 years of service.
She moved to Stevens Point in 1992 to be near her daughter, Marilyn Warner.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Jay (Jeannine) Warner, David (Laurie) Warner, Dale (Heather) Warner, all of Stevens Point, and Shari (Thomas) Liebe, Waunakee; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Warner; three sisters and three brothers.
