Gordon D. Rothmann, 72, Eagle River, a former Stevens Point resident and father of a Plover man, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wichmann Funeral Home in Appleton, with the Rev. Willis Bloedow officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established to benefit research on ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).
Mr. Rothmann was born March 25, 1928, in Garnet, a son of the late Gerald and Edna (Roehrdanz) Rothmann.
He was married to Virginia Doern. After she died, he was married to Joyce C. George on Jan. 16, 1991.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.
He retired from Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. on March 10, 1990.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Garnett (Duke) Cramer, Waunakee, Patricia (Jerry) Scheuerman, Lakewood, and Sherry Rothmann, Weyauwega; three sons, Terry (Karla) Rothmann, Plover, David (Ellen) Rothmann and Richard (Karen) George, both of Appleton; one sister, Shirley (Harold) Maltby, Chilton; and 11 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Gerald; and one grandson.
