Evelyn J. Jerzak, 75, 1300 Sixth Ave., died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Judy, while under the care of Hospice of Portage County after a long battle with congestive heart failure.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Donald Przybylski officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. A parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday.
Mrs. Jerzak was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of the late John and Edith (Piekarz) Penar. The family moved to Stevens Point when she was young and she attended the Rural Demonstration School and St. Peter Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. She was employed for a number of years at the Portage County Veterans Service Office.
She was married to Frank A. Jerzak on July 30, 1949, at St. Peter Catholic Church. He died June 9, 1981.
After their marriage they settled in Wausau for many years. She was active at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wausau, the YWCA Antique Club, Newman High School and the Wausau Catholic Womens Club.
They moved back to the Stevens Point area in 1977.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy (Mike) Splinter and Janice (Alex) Reichl, both of Stevens Point, and Jane (John) Ellingson, Black River Falls; one sister, Virginia Wanta, Stevens Point; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
