Edmund “Shorty” J. Witkowski, 82, Milwaukee, a Stevens Point native, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Oct. 26, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Private interment was held.
Visitation was at the church before the services.
Heritage Funeral Homes of Milwaukee assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Witkowski was born July 13, 1918, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Casper and Martha (Drella) Witkowski.
He served in the U.S. Army with the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Infantry Division in New Guinea, earning distinguished soldier awards.
He was married to Christine Okray at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point 51 years ago.
He retired from Roundy’s Foods.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tom (Janice), Charles (Linda) and Robert (Susan); one daughter, Mary Chris (David) Hempel; one sister, Loretta (Ed) Kurzinski, Stevens Point; and 13 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Joseph; and three brothers, Robert, James and Raymond.
