Clarence J. Cross, 81, 1400 Sixth Ave., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Revs. Dennis Worzalla and Gerald Fisher concelebrating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Tuesday at Shuda Funeral Chapel. There will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Mr. Cross was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Stevens Point, a son of the late John and Martha (Harder) Cross.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Feb. 12, 1942, at Fort Sheridan, Ill., and was discharged Dec. 24, 1945, at Camp McCoy. He served in New Guinea and Luzon and was a tech. 5. He received the American Theatre Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and Philippine Liberation Service Medal with one bronze star.
He was married to Pearl Kabachinski Fischer on Nov. 6, 1948, at St. Peter Catholic Church.
He was a dockman for a trucking company in Illinois until his retirement on Nov. 28, 1980.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Thomas (Jeanne) Fischer, LaPorte, Ill.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
