Chester P. Nigbor, 85, Sun City, Ariz., a Stevens Point native, died Friday, Oct. 6, At Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Ariz.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Clement of Rome in Sun City on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial to benefit the Sisters of St. Joseph has been established.
Mr. Nigbor was born Aug. 18, 1915, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Michael and Katherine (Worzalla) Nigbor. He attended St. Peter Grade School and Emerson High School. He graduated from Marquette University in 1936.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was married to Virginia Bruske on Sept. 1, 1947.
He was executive vice president of Nigbor Furs, a company founded by his father in 1898. He retired in 1972 and moved to Sun City, Ariz., in 1973.
He was a member of the Rotary, the Elks Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a fourth-degree member of the Knight of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Sun City; one son, Michael, Arizona; two daughters, Marty Stien, Las Vegas, Nev., and Nancy (Warren) Lensmire, Plover; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers.
