Virginia M. Jakubek, 77, Galloway, a Portage County native, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at her home under the care of her family and Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway, with the Rev. Herbert Zoromski officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the services. The Rosary Society will hold a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the church.
Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home in Wittenberg is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Jakubek was born Nov. 8, 1922, in the town of Sharon, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Grywacz) Gilmeister. She worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Michael’s Hospital.
She was married to Raymond Jakubek on June 20, 1942, in Polonia.
After their marriage, they farmed in the town of Germania in Shawano County.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway and its Rosary Society.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Marlene VanLieshout, Plover, Christine (David) Brandt, Rothschild, Geraldine “Geri” (Floyd) Wurz, Marathon, and Sandra (Steve) Klinner, Wittenberg; three sons, Ronald (Flora), Hatley, Gerald, Galloway, and David (Patricia), Phlox; one brother, Daniel (Marilyn) Gilmeister, Milwaukee; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen; one brother and two sisters.
