Marietta F. Scherzer, 64, Oshkosh, a Bancroft native, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at the Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, with the Rev. Jeffrey Tomberlin officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Bancroft.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside in Oshkosh and Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the services.
A memorial has been established to the Neighborhood Center.
Mrs. Scherzer was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Bancroft, a daughter of the late Allen and Edith (Pratt) Hotchkiss.
She was married to Lorenz “Larry” Scherzer Jr. in Oshkosh on Oct. 23, 1971.
She was employed by Tad’s Bar.
She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and served on the church council, as a Sunday school teacher and the youth committee. She also belonged to the church’s Neighborhood Center.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, the Rev. Larry Lee (Mary Jane) Bidwell, Owensboro, Ky., Roy W. Bidwell, Oshkosh, Allen J. (Mary) Bidwell, Killeen, Texas, and Lorenz (Sara) Scherzer III, Berlin; two brothers, Richard (Donna) Hotchkiss, Plainfield, and Roger (Andrea) Hotchkiss, Madison; two sisters, Patsy (Frank) Cummings, Bancroft, and Shirley (Lewis) Hinz, Omro; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
