Marie Margaret Martens, 80, 967 Main St., Junction City, a former owner of several Junction City businesses, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Friendship Manor Community-Based Residential Facility in Plover where she had resided since July 13.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Junction City, with the Rev. Edgar Haasl officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Junction City.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Martens/Kundinger Funeral Home in Junction City and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church until the services. A combined St. Michael Parish and Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be designated in her name to the Alzheimer’s Day Care at the Lincoln Center in Stevens Point.
Mrs. Martens was born July 23, 1920, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Worzalla) Sobczak. She graduated from Emerson High School in Stevens Point in 1938.
She was married to Armin H. Martens on Oct. 23, 1944, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point.
After their marriage, they owned and operated Martens Hardware Store and Martens Funeral Home in Junction City until their retirement.
She was an active member of various organizations at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Nancy (Michael) Olson, Bartlett, Ill.; two sons, Tom (Patricia), Davis, Calif., and Bob, Stevens Point; one sister, Eleanor (Vernon) Bernhagen, New Berlin; one brother, George (Alice) Sobczak, Whiting; and four grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
