Joseph “Leo” L. Wenzel, 91, Stratford, father of a Junction City man, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in the town of Eau Pleine in Marathon County.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home in Stratford and from 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the services. Parish rosary services will be held at 4 and 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Wenzel was born April 11, 1909, in Wabeno, a son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Linzmeier) Wenzel.
He was married to Dorothy E. Kaiser at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratford on June 5, 1940.
He worked as a mechanic at Schoultz Motor Co. in Stratford for more than 40 years while also farming.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; seven sons, Alan (Maria) Colorado Springs, Colo., Robert (Sharon), Junction City, John (Mary Ann), Green Bay, William (Kathy), Sheboygan, George (Betty), Albuquerque, N.M., Paul (Cleo), Somerset, and Bernard (Sally), Edgar; one brother, Rupert (Ruth), Stratford; four sisters, Lillian Thums, Rib Lake, Mary (Walter) Mayer, Milwaukee, Dorothy Wenzel, Marshfield, and Margaret White, Medford; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
