James P. Thompson, 46, Oshkosh, a Stevens Point native, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Winnebago County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, with the Revs. Gregg Schoeneck and Daniel Krause officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Visitation will be at the church from noon Thursday until the services.
Memorial contributions to the organization or charity of one’s choice in his name would be appreciated.
Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes of Oshkosh is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Thompson was born July 7, 1954, in Stevens Point, a son of Jack and Pat (Dineen) Thompson.
He graduated from Pacelli High School and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a master’s degree from UW-Oshkosh.
He was married to Laine Sandmann in Stevens Point on May 29, 1982.
He was a counselor at Shiocton High School.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Evangelical Church.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Katie, at home; his parents, Stevens Point; five brothers, Jerry (Chris) and Dick (Yvonne), both of Iola, Mike (Kathy) and Mark (Dalene), both of Sun Prairie, and Ken (Kris), Mount Horeb; and two sisters, Judy Thompson, Sun Prairie, and Mary (Bill) Higgins, Green Bay.
