Edward “Fast Eddie” J. Karch Sr., 88, 7607 Highway Z, Custer, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at River Pines Center where he was a resident for the last three years. He suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the services. A general rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Karch was born Aug. 2, 1912, in the town of Stockton, a son of the late Michael and Frances (Wysocki) Karch. He attended local schools.
He was married to Evelyn Firkus on Nov. 21, 1932, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia.
They farmed in Portage County until 1965. He also worked at American Motors in Milwaukee for seven years and Polonia Service Garage in Polonia for 28 years.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronald (Bernadetta) and Edward Jr. (Sandy), both of Amherst Junction; two daughters, Irene Olszewski, Stevens Point, and Diane (Marvin) Milanowski, Amherst Junction; four sisters, Matilda Zaborowski, Stevens Point, Agnes Rose, Chicago, Ill., Alice Kizewski, Custer, and Wanda (Eugene) Domaszek, Amherst Junction; three brothers, Henry (Millie), Amherst Junction, Daniel (Irene), Whiting, and Raymond, Stevens Point; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and two great-grandchildren.
