Stanley G. Blarek, 88, Brokaw, a Polonia native, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital while under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wausau, with the Rev. Joseph Diermeier officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home in Wausau, and again on Saturday at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the services. There will be a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Blarek was born Aug. 24, 1911, in Polonia, a son of the late Walter and Helen Blarek.
He was married to Otilia Check on Oct. 17, 1936.
He worked at Wausau Papers for 40 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a volunteer fireman for the village of Brokaw and served on the village board for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Don (Faye), Wausau, Stan (Lois), Minnetonka, Minn., and Charles, Brokaw; one daughter, Rosalie (Jim) Parsons, Brokaw; one sister, Margaret Pliska, Milwaukee; one brother, Conrad (Theresa), Bevent; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
