Irene E. Zabawa, 90, 1232 Soo Marie Ave., died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Kozlowski officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Boston Funeral Home, with a parish rosary at 7 p.m.
Ms. Zabawa was born Sept. 15, 1909, in Wisconsin Rapids, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Zabawa.
She moved to Vanceboro, N.C., with her family and graduated from high school there. Following high school, she was a secretary for a North Carolina senator for a couple of years.
She returned to Wisconsin Rapids and worked for an attorney and then joined Sentry Insurance in 1929, working in the personnel department. She worked for Sentry for more than 44 years.
She moved to Stevens Point in 1946.
She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, the Stevens Point Country Club and bridge groups. She also worked several years with Telecare.
Survivors include one sister, Esther Zabawa, Stevens Point; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, Joseph and William.
